Sharifah has over 30 years of experience in project advisory with a focus on public private partnerships (PPP), energy, infrastructure, utilities and public policy. Her work also includes advisory on construction & engineering, operations & maintenance and technical services contracts. Sharifah initially practised in Malaysia at leading law firms for 17 years before moving to Qatar to work with the largest regional law firm in the Middle East and she later joined an international law firm based in the Middle East. She has worked in the Middle East since 2008 and continues to advise on PPP and infrastructure projects in the Middle East. She has advised a project company on their EPCC contract and operations & maintenance contract for a hydropower project in Malaysia. She also advised the project owner on a waste to-energy project. Sharifah has advised clients on construction, privatisation and PPP projects in Malaysia, Qatar and other parts of Southeast Asia, Kuwait, Oman, Dubai, Pakistan, Iraq and Jordan. The projects she handled include renewable energy, expressways, bridges, airports, ports, marinas, solid waste treatment facilities, transmission lines, property development and hospitals. Sharifah is currently an Executive Committee Member of the World Association of PPP Units & Professionals (WAPPP). She held the position of Co-Chair of Asia Pacific Chapter of WAPPP from August 2022 to August 2023. WAPPP is a non-profit association established in Geneva, Switzerland and is a global hub for the Public Private Partnerships (PPP) community. There are over 50 PPP Units and government agencies globally which are members of WAPPP including UKAS, the PPP Unit of Malaysia. In addition to legal advisory work, during the course of her extensive global work and presence, Sharifah has frequently been asked by clients such as high net worth individuals, sovereign wealth funds and several government entities such as government investment boards to structure investment deals, including attracting international investors to participate in various projects. This is largely due to the key international network she has developed, particularly in the Middle East, Malaysia and China. These projects are related to various industries such as renewable energy projects, real estate development and investments, infrastructure, minerals mining, bitcoin mining and oil & gas. Sharifah heads the Middle East desk at RDS Partnership wherein her role is to advise clients from the Middle East on their projects and investments in Malaysia and other parts of Asia Pacific. She also advises Malaysian clients and clients within the Asia Pacific region who are undertaking projects and investments in the Middle East.
